    Job Description

    The JM Family Technical Content Architect possesses broad knowledge across multiple development platforms and draws on their skills and experience to assess requirements and architecture to design secure, high-performance technical solutions that maximize the potential of our platforms. Suitable candidates will be highly knowledgeable in the design of data models and content management workflows for new products, product enhancements, and platform releases, and to ensure that workflows are customer-focused, value-adding, sustainable and enable the business to maximize the value of investments and manage risk.

     

    The TA will provide senior level expertise on decisions and priorities regarding content and its architectures across all the line of business.  They will facilitate the establishment and implementation of standards and guidelines that guide the design of solutions including architecting and implementing solutions requiring integration of multiple platforms and applications across the enterprise. TA will review and advise on design standards, software builds, platform options, risks, costs versus benefits and impact on the enterprise business process and goals.

     

    The successful candidate will be able to communicate clearly, and confidently, leading both technical briefings and business requirement gathering sessions. They will be able to document requirements clearly and concisely, author technical documents and design and document integration needs. Candidates will be able to manage client expectations and scope effectively.

    Suitable candidates will understand both Agile (SCRUM) and Waterfall delivery models and follow the importance of SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle Principles) and SFDC development best practices.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Create, maintain, and document schemas and other validation methods to ensure content validity, completeness, and accuracy
    • Specify best practices and processes for content creation and validation
    • Provide support and advice to schema users, including content analysis and canonical samples
    • Provide proactive recommendations for technology and workflow solutions, with the goal of ensuring that current tools/systems are used to avoid duplication and that software or workflow improvements are implemented to further predictability and efficiency
    • Review content-related technological initiatives and provide recommendations to management
    • Ensure strategic alignment of content architecture with systems architecture by providing guidance and support to software and content engineers, and collaborate with other architects
    • Promote implementation of colonial architecture and accessibility standards
    • Perform structured approach to analyzing cost, benefits, and risks of content creation in new systems, migration between systems, and revision within systems
    • Ensure content designs allow for open integration with other internal and external systems using services based architectural models
    • Act as a liaison between content and software engineering teams, advising and assisting both teams in the implementation of new or enhanced data models
    • Act as a resource and mentor, providing input and training designed to improve team performance
    • Keep current with industry and architecture standards and best practices
    • Perform additional responsibilities as needed to achieve company goals, including the design and implementation of transformation pipelines, gap analysis, and production bug support

    Job Requirements

    MUST HAVE:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
    • 10+ years IT Experience with a focus on content management
    • In-depth understanding of XML and related standards and tools such as XSLT, XPath, XQuery, RelaxNG, Schematron and prior experience working with DTD and XSD languages
    • Thorough knowledge of relational database concepts, such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL or DB2
    • In-depth knowledge and experience with Web Services and Services Oriented Architectures (SOA) technologies
    • Experience with Agile software development methodologies and tools
    • Demonstrated experience leading and influencing process/change initiatives and problem-solving creatively and efficiently
    • Prior experience building consensus across functional areas within cross-functional project teams
    • Demonstrated expertise to work independently, balance competing priorities and manage several time-sensitive projects with minimal direction in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff and vendors
    • Prior experience architecting complex and holistic solutions that meet business objectives
    • Previous experience creating and conducting benefit/risk analysis
    • Experience with Object-oriented coding in a language such as Java or MS .NET.

     

    Nice to have:

    • In-depth understanding of web technologies
    • Prior experience architecting complex and holistic solutions that meet business objectives at a publishing or media company
    • Experience with Source Control tools such as GIT and SVN, including branching/merging and release automation with Jenkins or Maven
    • In-depth understanding of NoSQL database concepts, including MarkLogic or MongoDB.
    • Product Knowledge: FileNet, SharePoint, Sitecore
    • Proficient in at least one Development Languages - C#, Java, JavaScript (Node.js), etc.
    • PaaS/Serverless Experience - Azure Service Fabric, AWS Lambda, Azure Functions
    • Database - SQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Azure HDInsights, AWS EMR
