    Job Description

    The Organizational Development Strategist will partner with leaders and HR colleagues in achieving business goals related to our strong company culture, healthy and well-functioning departments, improved leadership and associate effectiveness, and enhanced talent management so that JM Family is well prepared for future business challenges.  In this role, collection and analysis of information is required to determine key factors, opportunities, root causes, and desired outcomes.  Research on best practices and recommendation of organizational interventions will be expected, as well as creation and/or execution of solutions, tools, processes, and change and measurement activities.


    The successful candidate will be able to collaborate, build consulting relationships with sponsors, work in partnership with members of management and HR, and generate integrated approaches, all with the aim of building individual and team capacity.  These responsibilities will apply to the design, development, implementation and/or application of tools and processes in areas such as assessment, coaching, teambuilding, strategy alignment, organization design, problem solving, and performance improvement.  All completed activities should have measurement and follow-up attached to ensure that desired outcomes are achieved.

    Job Requirements

    • A bachelor’s degree required.
    • 5 – 7 years progressive experience in Organizational Development or a closely related field is required, with at least 2 years as an internal consultant to Director and VP-level business leaders.  Past experience as a manager or leader is a plus.
    • Understanding of corporate culture, organizations as systems, leading change or transformation initiatives, group dynamics, organizational and strategic agility, and process improvement techniques.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills: capable of building strong relationships, inspiring trust and confidence with a wide variety of people, drawing out opinions through effective questioning, forming partnerships with clients, and influencing agreement to positively affect organizational decisions.
    • Experience as a consultant, with well-developed consulting abilities to gauge client wants, gather data, analyze issues/causes, and surface difficult information.  And to define scope of work, engage client, partner with senior management and internal experts, generate courses of action, carefully position recommendations, and design and deliver custom interventions.
    • Experience creating and sustaining processes and programs that align with company culture to build team, leader, and organizational capacity.
    • Ability to develop a client strategy, make independent judgments, maintain multiple projects and follow-thorough to ensure that interventions have positive impact for client and overall company.
    • Knowledge of leadership models and criteria, with ability to assess, diagnose, and select actions for leader development.
    • Experience in 360-degree assessment interpretation and coaching; Certification in Style or Type assessment, especially Birkman, Hogan, or Emergenetics; and Experience guiding the evolution of talent management activities such as performance management, succession, career development, etc.
